Don't Say THESE Words in The WRONG Spanish-speaking Country! Sometimes learning Spanish can be difficult... that's because Spanish is a multicultural language. In today’s video, I’m going to show some problems that may pop up because of its "multiculturness." I’m going to share a few common Spanish misunderstandings. These words and expressions change their meaning when they cross the borders of the more than 20 countries in which Spanish is the official language. These misunderstandings almost always occur in the slang and colloquial tone of everyday life. They occur in conversations because the way people speak changes constantly from country to country to a greater extent, and even to a lesser extent from region to region and from city to city. Of course, you don’t have to learn them all by heart. But this is a great exercise to appreciate the cultural diversity of the Spanish language and, in a more practical sense, to prepare for a trip to a Spanish-speaking country. Write down some of the ones that catch your eye, and be sure to include them in your next practice session.

In Colombia "arrugar" means also in slang to be intimidated or afraid. "Buzo" means also diver in Colombia

Wow! I learned a lot from this video. Will be hard to remember them all, but I guess the important thing is to try and get things right in the Spanish speaking countries I visit. i.e. Puerto Rico, Mexico and Spain.

I have never heard a few of the words ascribed to my country (Cuba). Vocabulary and accent vary from region to region, so I guess that some of those words aren't used where I live.

Other words have different meanings around here:
- buzo: wastepicker
- chucho: quip, mockery
- caña: It was used as a synonym of ''pesos $'' but today is an old-fashioned/rural word - _ -
- mona: it's a racist word for black women
