Electric Trabant - Electrabant - E-Trabbi - Solar Trabant

What did it take to own a Electric Trabant in The Netherlands. How to get it road legal on the dutch streets. Converting a old car to electric is very hard in The Netherlands due too all regulations here. Its not impossible but importing a old electric car from Germany and improve it is more my kind of way. This vlog I show you what it takes to get it on the roads. Now I am free to drive with the Trabant where I want and improve it!

This is my old Car. I owned it from 1996 till 2013. I am really amused, that it still exists near in this good shape.
The conversion was imperfect, I have to add a new motor support and special made drve shafts . A lot of Batteries were used, I remember abt. 5 Changes in this time. 13 Pieces of lead-acid 12 V 60 Ah. Over 300kg.. . The Top speed is 76 km/h and the Range was abt. 60km in Berlin and the record was 120km.
The sound of the Car is most determined from the gear, straight toothed wheel, Sounds like a drive Train from our S-Bahn... .
I modified the automated Trianle / Star switch into a manual version, it is more comfortable and saves al lot of Energy.

God damn, everything is just so sensible in the Netherlands. As an American I'm jealous of you getting a hand made license plate THAT DAY. lol It's just crazy to see actual people working doing the jobs, automation and greed has killed everything here. We have to wait weeks for it to eventually come in the mail or to arrive at a currency exchange office where you submitted your registration papers.

That is one strict MOT, stripping down the brakes to inspect them. I thought the UK MOT was strict but it’s mild compared to yours.

tbh, this is the only logical thing to do with a trabant. those cars weigh next to nothing, even after you remake all the panels into fiberglass and add a roll cage for safety. with the battery on the floor, car should have the center of mass of an F1 car.
