I watched a documentary about this on YouTube and some of the men were so wholesome it was unreal. They really yearned for a family and daughter, but either could not afford it or have not found a woman that was interested in them so the idols gave them joy and peace. The men mentioned that there are perverts too, but other fans usually try to weed them out and protect the idols. The documentary highlighted an unexpectedly wholesome and endearing relationship. Hearing some of the men's stories made me cry with compassion for them.
