In this third Tuesday of the month general meeting, we discuss how behavioral surveillance is used to trace, track, monitor, and stalk community members. Rooted in the long history of police deputization, programs such as See Something, Say Something recruit communities to report “suspicious behavior.” Adding surveillance technologies like Nextdoor and Citizen, these programs create a license to racially profile Black, brown, and migrant communities.
We discuss how LAPD is trying to conceal the violence of "data-driven policing" by rebranding it into "community policing." We also plan how to expand our organizing against LAPD's "community policing" reforms. Join the fight!
