Dricus du Plessis competes in the UFC Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he is the current UFC Middleweight Champion and the first South African to win a UFC championship.
After defeating Israel Adesanya at UFC 305, Dricus Du Plessis is expected to face Sean Strickland for his next title defense.

Adesanya (24-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) was submitted by middleweight champion Du Plessis (22-2 MMA, 8-0 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 305 headliner in Perth, Australia. It was a back-and-forth fight up until Round 4, when Adesanya felt like the tide was shifting his way. However, Du Plessis was able to lunge forward with a combination before dragging Adesanya down and tapping him out with a rear-naked choke.

Yes, he's movement is technically awkward, but, consider this: He was a WAKO junior world kickboxing champ, first EFC champ-champ holding the welterweight and middleweight belts at the same time. He became KSW champ by TKO against a monster. He finishes most of his fights, yet he has never lost a fight that has gone the distance. He is not new to championship gold.... He can switch stances, adjust game plans for specific aponents due to his versatility, powerful striker and a good grappler. He is what MMA stands for: a Mixed Martial Artist. He has lost and came back stronger, he has been choked and refused to tap, heart of a lion and this cannot be trained. Humble, yet confidant . He's trash talking is mostly in response to being provoked. He is like BMF and the NMF at the same time.

DDP deserves the upmost respect. he is always honest. He’s very forthright. He has extremely strong values and a great foundational core. he shows respect as a fighter, but of course he has to also be an entertainer. But once he put the entertainer aside, like he does at the end of the fight with Izzy, then we see he’s just a man on a mission to chase his dream into fulfill his destiny as a Hall of Famer in the UFC.
