BMW N47 engine problem.

it was the failure of the bearing shell in crankshaft,

A lot cheaper to replace the engine then to repair it.

timing chain was "a bit" loose but didn't snap. That could obviously cause the failure of the bearing shell.

Just found this video mine is doing this sound I was thinking the engine had blown has no lights on and still full of oil but many garages round here won't go near it to fix

Did this sound like it was coming from the top end even though it was a crankshaft bearing shell?

My engine made same noise while driving and loosing on power and the engine stopped won’t even turn now and no mechanic even wants to look at it any suggestions? What it could be

Mines just gone at 205 thousand miles ahahha!! On the motorway foot down car just turned off and vibrated to a holt . Wouldn’t turn over completely dead to the world, it had gone into limp mode and when we managed to get it started again it sounded like a bag of spanners 🤣🤣 still starts but haven’t dared to drive it garage wants 3k to rebuild it

I have the same problem and it is the bearing shell and i need to replace the whole crankshaft :-(

Sounds like your timing chain is real bad..

Bushing on the shaft. Shaft for scrap.

My BMW caused me so much trouble and I disliked the customer service so much that I will never go near one again. Somebody is sending a hard built reputation down the drain; banking greed mentality has entered, in my humble opinion.

Mine makes a similar noise but not as bad, sounds like it maybe an injector, I also have the rocker cover/housing started to melt. Has anyone a similar experience?

300.000 just change the chain first time. Liqui moly every 15000

Injectors problems! Call your local dealer for warranty, they should cover it!
