Original ‘Gettysburg Cyclorama’ unveiled in Fuquay-Varina

The Cyclorama of the “The Battle of Gettysburg” by French artist Paul Philippoteaux depicts the clash of July 3, 1863. It was the South’s deadliest battle of the war, with more than 45,000 casualties. The large painting was displayed by it’s owners in an old tobacco warehouse in Fuquay-Varina, N.C. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015. The trio of investors are hoping to find a home for the historic work. Cycloramas are panoramic paintings displayed inside a cylindrical platform to the give the viewer a felling of being in the midst of a historical scene.
