In my opinion, the thing that makes this game stand out the most is all the ways to interact with the world. Jump pads, hypertubes, trucks and tractors, nobelisks(including a rocket jump nobelisk), jetpacks, the zipline, power towers, the huge buildings you can build and walk through, the parachute, etc, there's so many cool ways to interact with the world that I havent seen in any other factory game.

It's Factorio's gameplay loop with Subnautica's reward system. It's a game about creating, automating, and optimizing systems in a map that WANTS you to explore it.

If you've ever been interested in the automaton genre Satisfactory is the best starting point.

You may not be able to make sense of some streamer's mega factory but you will be able to make sense of yours because you built it piece by piece.

The game seems complicated, and it is, but it introduces all the parts very gradually.

It's honestly a very chill experience.

"lack of threat" - please tell that to the 30 foot tall poison spiders. exploring the red forest in the dark is the most terrifying experience I've had in a game in years.

Fun fact: you can climb almost vertical wall using a parachute. It's very fun. Try it.

I loved this game in early access and picked it up a couple times over the years. The 1.0 release is AWESOME.
It especially fixed the main issue that had me abandon my games before: The big hump when trying to move from a scrappy/temporary 'initial' to a 'proper' main base. I got over it once, but then gave up in a second major move.

The new interdimensional depot fixes this perfectly by eliminating almost all of the boring back-and-forth-travel to pick up building materials during major construction projects. You still have to connect your new base to some kind of transportation network to get goods there for its actual production, but you no longer have to build it right away because you needed like 10+ trips AND a temporary construction material factory just to get even started.

The exploration gets a little bit old after I already nearly cleaned the whole map like 5 times over the years, but even now the underlying mechanics are fun enough that it it's enjoyable enough.

I think I would mainly like three things for the future:

1. For a free update: An update to enemies. Making them a bit more distinct and overhauling combat mechanics a bit. They did some steps into that direction with enemies like the radioactive boar, but this is certainly still an area that feels a little underdeveloped in the long term.
2. For a proper DLC expansion: A Subnautica-style underwater system that overhauls swimming/diving mechanics and links underwater biomes to the existing world map.
3. For a Satisfactory 2.0 in the 2030s: Proper terraforming.

The game does a great job of ramping up the complexity too. It starts off basic and you build into the complexity, along with not having a time constraint makes it easy to get into.

Factorio, as good as it is, still only has a fraction of players that satisfactory has. That tells you something abt the magic satisfactory has. As someone who never liked minecraft before or any sandbox for that matter, satisfactory made me see the light. I've put around 700 hrs into different saves on early access and i didn't even fully get into the last tier and nuclear power system. With 1.0 they almost doubled the size of endgame. Oh also they added in the narrative as well. I'm still letting that sink in lol.

Idk if you do react content, if you don't then just watch on your own time. Just Game it Out does ridiculous things in this game. His angle on content is he tried to make something silly or broken. I found his videos on satisfactory to be particularly fun

I played Satisfactory pre-1.0 and I sink about 40h and its very addictive game. I started on release 1.0 and after 10+h, I stop playing it because it get easily addictive that can pass hours and hours no stopping lol its equivalent of "one more turn" in civ games. But the game is just satisfaction love everything but there is no map editor or terraforming(I love flat maps)

I'm very curious about this game but trying to find out whether "lack of threat" might translate to lack of purpose for me personally.
Is there a reason to keep progressing apart from curiosity of the player? or is it "just" a sandbox?

I love this game but the story is pretty disappointing to me so far. Spoilers:



It’s just the most standard space Amazon, corporations are evil, aren’t humans useless compared to computers? Hahahaha. It’s also one of those games with an AI that constantly insults you for your “sub human intelligence.” And makes some remarks that could really be seen in a different light depending on who is playing. The AI calls you a monkey at one point, stuff like that.

I am aware corporations are bad. I play games for fantasy, this game is just reality. Beating you over the head with the evil AI and evil greedy corporations but so often you don’t have time to immerse yourself in anything else.
