I used to have a manual one, and a few months ago bought this one in purple and it changed my life! I love it! Best part? I got a foot switch that passes power when you press and hold (like a sewing machine), and I plug the winder into it before the outlet. That way I frog thrifted sweaters with my hand while I wind the yarn and control the speed with the pedal.

I like the handle one personally because I can inspect the yarn as I wind it and catch any potential trouble ahead of time.

I prefer my hand crank one, it makes much larger skeins. I can ball up to 5 skeins that are 100g each.
