Transitioning to modern technologies (microservices, cloud native, serverless) requires great effort from teams to re-architect their services, re-write applications, but also learn new concepts and tools. Our session will offer detailed analyses of two critical use cases: deploying new applications and modernizing existing ones. Through these examples, we'll demonstrate the practical application of these architectural patterns and tools in real-world scenarios, highlighting their impact on efficiency, scalability, and agility in application development. Throughout this presentation we'll see a strategic blueprint for application modernization, incorporating Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), 12-factor app methodology, microservices, macroservices, and modular monoliths. We will delve into how Dapr and Backstage frameworks, along with Kubernetes and CAPI, are pivotal in this evolution.
