0:16 you can see the splash of bullets hitting the water around the soldiers moving up to the beach in the surf. Also you can see the reactions of the soldiers about to join them in the water still on the boat.

Love this angle as it shows how menacingly far the soldiers had to move up to get off the beach. Plus gives a great idea how slow they had to move due to all the weight they carried. My guess is this is probably like 2-3 wave.

Some people in these comments seem to think that every beach was like Saving Private Ryan.

thank you for not adding dumb epic music, this was most certainly a somber moment for these men

Lets have a moment of silence to the cameramans and soldiers as well as the civilians who were killed in WW2

What caught my eye was the amount of ships that were right off shore, they said it went on for miles . Think about the logistics of moving such a large amount of man, equipment, tanks, trucks, artillery, food, had to be thousands of ships . It’s amazing feat

It would be absolutely surreal if it was REALLY 1080p FULL COLOR but this is really cool too. They have been also other videos of just normal day to day life filmed on the streets. Like one was in the streets & harbor in New York City! Uugghh SO awesome

Right at about 17 seconds you see a burst of machine gun fire hit the water. And it struck a couple men.

I would just like to share that my great uncle was in the second wave of this battle, and survived but whenever we saw him at parties etc he was never the same and was always shook. He would have the 1000 yard stare and was traumatized his whole life seeing all his brothers die in battle, It is discusting that he fought all of that just for the world to be like this now.

This must have been like the 4th or 5th wave of troops cause the battle has died down alot at this point it seems like.

In 0:17 if you look closely you can see how the last bullet hitting the water hit a soldier in this cluster.
There is one guy in the middle who collapses and doesn't continue walking as the others do

whats shocking is how young these men are. i always imagined soldiers to be strong heavybuilt men. here, the boys looked like theyre still going through puberty
