Young people don't understand how big wrestling was back in 1997-2001. You still had a few jock types who disliked it because it's "not real", but the majority of people in my class loved it and talked about it all the time. Watching RAW was more anticipated than an NBA or NFL game.

People that weren’t around for the Attitude Era or that were Ruthless Aggression kids onward can’t even fathom how untouchable The Rock was in his prime. Undertaker, Stone Cold, nobody could touch this version of the Rock character in terms of promo/mic skills and charisma. People gravitated towards him like he was bigger than life. I mean people still kind of do, he’s a household name but this is The Rock at the peak of his powers imo.

The Rock was gold on mic, so was Taker, I recall him getting interviewed at King of the Ring 1999, he was champion and he was facing The Rock, Cole asked him something like is he worried about The Rock, he just said " what happens when you rip the balls of a bull?". He left it at that, never much talking but brutal one liners.
