In memoriam Bernard Haitink (1929-2021)

Met het overlijden van Bernard Haitink verliest de muziekwereld één van de allergrootste dirigenten. Op 21 oktober overleed hij op 92-jarige leeftijd. We koesteren de dierbare herinneringen aan zijn concerten in Het Concertgebouw die een onuitwisbare indruk hebben achtergelaten.

Listening my entire life Radio Netherland broadcasting Das Concertgebow concerts I grow up admiring and loving this enormous and talented musician after 43 years I lost one of the lights of my life. I remember when I walked into a record store (Siewerts in Uppsala, Sweden), asking for some Brahms, and the young and beautiful girl behind the desk suggested that I should listen to Bernard Haitink. I did, and I bought a record with him. It is was Bernard or the girl that made me by is, let it be unsaid. This was perhaps 1970, and now he is dead. Bless his soul!

Para mi, fue el segundo director de mi infancia que me hizo ver la Quinta sinfonía de Tchaikovsky de una manera cinematográfica. Muchos han tratado de hacer que suene bien, pero Haitink tiene ese sonido característico que jamas pude olvidar. Busque y busque hasta que lo encontré.

His Beethoven 3rd piano concerto with Perahia compact disc has the correct transition of the 2nd to 3rd movement. Transition should be 'gapless'
