You Don't Need a Spike to Get into Your Dream College

Back when I was applying to schools, I read that I had to have a spike if I wanted to have a chance of getting accepted. Now that I'm in college, I'd say that you don't need to have a spike to get into your dream college. Speaking a bit from my own experience, well-rounded applicants can have just as good of a shot as their more spiky peers.

I think that today what can make your application standout is the genuinity of your application ...your essays, your activities ..if they speak about you and seem to be true then that I think can become your spike even if you are a well-rounded student .Btw amazing content ❤keep going

When I started watching your video, I honestly thought it was bs to think like that (sorry!), but when I finished watching it, I understood where you were coming from -- it makes sense (somewhat). I'm just a random high-schooler who has little to no knowledge on the college application process. On the many videos I've watched on people's stats, it always seems that people have great GPAs, have done many internships, have many, many awards, and have a spike.
However, sometimes I come across applicants with no identifiable spike, but with a great essay and personal narrative, and wonder why the college accepted them, seeing as their application is so basic.
It makes a little bit more sense now.
Based on what I've seen, it seems hard to believe that colleges these days would pick a student that hasn't shown any remarkable achievements because of how competitive it is.

Side Note: Do you have any advice for a junior in high school? (specifically in relation to extracurriculars, and what to do with the most chaotic year of hs?)
