Former Automotive Design Engineer Explains Audi A4 Door Sealing Strategy - Full Video Coming Soon

Short video explaining the side door mounted primary seal design and sealing strategy for the B9-generation Audi A4 sedan. Basics include single EPDM bulb-profile extrusion attached to the door inner panel using PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive). Seal is applied robotically near the door inner panel hemmed edge in the vehicle assembly plant. Design of the seal is optimized to eliminate need for sill/scuff plate seals and rear door to fender close out seals, reducing bill of material part count, cutting piece price and tooling costs, and improving the clean look of the vehicle.
