Lyrics:
I called him everything under the sun
Kinda under my breath and when I was done
I slammed my bedroom door
Did some stomping around on my bedroom floor
Dad walked in, no knock, no grace
Said if you think I walked in like I own this place
Boy, it’s ‘cause I do
And I’ve got some things I wanna call you too

CHORUS
You’re a son of a momma
You’re a son of a dad
Who will never stop loving you and being there
And giving you everything they have
Someday you’re gonna get it boy
You’ll admit it boy
Just like I did with my old man
You’re a son of a momma, a son of a dad
Who give a damn

He took the keys to my new used car
Pulled the “long as you’re living under my roof” card
I always hated what he called tough love
But now I thank the good Lord above

I’m a son of a momma
A son of a dad
Who will never stop loving me and being there
And giving me everything they have
Let me tell ya that I get it now
I’ll admit it now
Why I am the man I am
I’m a son of a momma, a son of a dad
Who give a damn

These days keeping it together for forever is a dying breed
Now I know why my broken home buddies call me
A lucky S.O.B.

I’m a son of a momma
A son of a dad
Who will never stop loving me and being there
And giving me everything they have
Let me tell ya that I get it now
I’ll admit it now
Why I am the way I am
I’m a son of a momma, a son of a dad
Who give a damn

Yeah I’m a son of a momma, a son of a dad
Who give a damn

I took away my daughter's truck because she was having trouble showing respect... She ran way out of frustration and it took 12 days to get her home from her rich friend's family. She was mad that I still wouldn't give her truck back until she could prove she could be respectful and safe. As I was trying to "deprogram" her from her time away, I pulled in the driveway and looked up to heaven and asked my Dad for help. That instant, this song (that I had never heard before) came on the radio. I knew that I was doing the right thing even if it made her mad. I shared the video with her. She said, but I don't have a dad. I said, you're right, so I have to do both jobs which makes it even harder for me. But I hold you accountable because I give a darn! What is right is not always easy, but I do it because I care. Bless you for this song that opened up that conversation between my daughter and I and helped us move forward.

Love this song. I quote this to my son when he gets upset with us. If more parents gave a damn about their kids, this world would be a better place.

Lost my uncle last night out of the blue. I didn’t have a father growing up so he was my father figure. So the message of this song stopped me in my track and resonated with me. This is powerful and really tells a beautiful truth. Thank you for creating this.

As a single Momma to 4 boys, this song is very emotional. I hope they get it one day. I gave all I could.

I am not a son, but I’m a daughter & a Momma who raised a son. Sir, I’d love to shake your hand! I’ve never heard a song so real in all my life, period! Thank you! Thank you for sharing a piece of your heart with all of us. God Bless 🙏🏻💚🫶🏻
PS talk to your Momma every chance you get, sir. Stop by & hug her neck every single chance you get. 🙏🏻💚🫶🏻

My son just recently started listening to country music. I on the other hand have listened to it all of my life. He just sent this to me and said this was my song. I have been both a mother and a father to him. I cried listening to this. I am very blessed to have a wonderful, respectful, and hard working young man of a son. God is so good.

Dillon:
I’ve said it before and I will say it again…this is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard! Lost my dad at 21 and I will be 50 in 3 months. My son will be 16 next month and we are living in this moment as we speak just as I lived it with my dad some 30 plus years ago. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss my dad and I still have a lot of regrets for things I said or put he and my Mom through as a teen! This song will resonate with a lot of people! Love your music, bro!! Keep it up!

I'm 41 years old with a 15 year old son and I lost my dad 9 years ago. Everything that was said to me growing up I've said to my son.
This song always hit close to home for me and always will. Having a visual to go with it now makes hit harder.
Dillon my brother there's not a time I hear this song I don't tear up. That's real!! Keep em coming.

I thank my parents often at age 52, for teaching me empathy. They raised me correctly and so did their parents. And I passed that all down to my three kids in college. All straight A’s throughout school. One PhD student at Princeton, one engineer at Purdue, and one nurse at a tough school. I pinch myself daily and am proud to have been an intricate part of their lives

Both my mom and dad are gone but I was so fortunate to have them. As a single parent, I have never given up on my only son. It was tough but I've always had hope for him and loved him unconditionally.

😭😭😭 Thank goodness there is a real country artist still out there singing songs from the ❤️. This touched my husband and I. We both grew up in broken families, but with our vows we swore our children wouldn't have to go through what we did, Lord willing. Bless you!

Absolutely love this song. Just wish my son was still alive so I could play it for him... He was the Son of Mama and Dad that gave a Damn.. He was just too young to understand

I heard this song on the radio this morning on my way to work, and immediately sent a link to my Father so he could listen.
I got emotional hearing the words, because my Dad always told me there was a reason for everything he ever said or did. It wasn't to steal my joy, or because he wanted to be a jerk.
It was because he cared, and sometimes a child needs tough love so that one day they will grow up to be somebody.
I'm thankful for everything that man ever taught me. I just hope I can be half the dad that he was. I have a 5 year old, 10 month old, and two bonus kids at age 11 and 12. My only goal is for them to come to me one day and say "Thank you, Dad. I get it. I understand. And I'm grateful."

Much love to all the Dad's out there. The ones who get up, put their work boots on, and go to a job that they often times feel like isn't good enough to provide what their family wants.
Let me assure you, if you're supplying the Needs, the ability to supply the Wants will come in due time. Keep your head up gentlemen. Continue to set an example that they can pass down to their children one day.

I'll share what my Dad told me when I became a dad myself:
"Son, being a parent doesn't come with a handbook or a how-to guide. It's an every day process of trial and error."
Truer words have never been spoken.

It isn't always easy. But it's a journey worth seeing through.
Much love.

This will get a million views before the end of this year! You can't write a song with more love and straight to the heart like this!

My dad just sent me this video. I'm not usually into modern country music. If I listen to country music, it's old stuff like Marty Robbins. That said, I love this song for conveying an emotion I feel many men my father's age have trouble with. It allowed him to show me how important I really am to him in a way he never could have done himself.

I heard this song on the radio at work for the first time last week. I literally stopped what I was doing just to listen it is that captivating. It’s been years since the last time that’s happened. Amazing song!

My son sent this to me this morning. Needless to say it brought happy tears. He has become such an amazing young man. His dad and I couldn't be more proud of him.
