The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie Will Take A Surprising Direction - IGN The Fix: Entertainment

The Legend of Zelda live-action movie director Wes Ball has big plans for Link's awakening on the big screen. While speaking to Total Film, he spoke about the importance of getting the tone of the Zelda property just right for fans to fully immerse themselves in the world as it unfolds in live-action. The quote reads, "I want to fulfill people's greatest desires. I know it's important, this franchise, to people, and I want it to be a serious movie. A real movie that can give people an escape." He goes on to describe the world he wishes to create as something that’ll feel real to audiences, as well as maintaining that fun and whimsy that’s been established in countless #Zelda games. The Legend of Zelda movie is coming to us from Nintendo, of course, as well as Sony Pictures. Miyamoto-san will be there to produce the film with Jurassic World writer Derek Connolly reportedly handling the script. No word on if the movie will adapt one of Zelda’s numerous storylines or create something original. But based on what we saw play out in the Mario movie, it’s likely we’ll see an original story with elements from the previous games sprinkled throughout.

Knowing how predictable Hollywood has become nowadays, casting Tom Holland as Link would come as no surprise.

Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess are dark Zelda games.

They should’ve made animated like Mario.

It should be a Studio Ghibli style movie, think Princess Mononoke but in the Zelda universe.

Let me guess like halo and fallout "it won't be made for the fans" and will "subvert expectations"

Hollywood will cast Danny Devito as Link.

Nintendo should take some pointers from Konami and make Zelda an animated series instead. Each season can cover a different game with different animations to properly reflect the differences between games.

Since Wes Bell has taken inspiration from Hayao Miyazaki’s style for the Legend of Zelda movie, my hope it has a well established relationship of Link x Princess Zelda’s relationship (where started out at best of friends in the beginning until their journey evolves them into be lovers) and a new iteration of them traveling hyrule together.

My biggest worry is that the movie would be like Ninja Turtles cartoon where it was not aloud for them to use their weapons in a lethal manner.

There will be NO bouncing shopkeepers or charming construction guys in this adaptation.... Zelda is SERIOUS BUSINESS

A Zelda adaptation that feels real? That’s cause for concern…cause for a lot of concern. Zelda should feel like Lord of the Rings with Zelda level fantasy

If they manage to make a proper Zelda movie, I will be so sad that my dad won't be here to see it (he passed away last Valentine's Day).

He introduced me to Zelda when I was extremely young, I essentially learned how to read from Zelda 2, and I watched him beat it countless times.

He would listen to Tangerine Dream and Transfer Station Blue while he played, which he called "Link Music", so I still refer to them as such to this day.😊

I watched him play through Ocarina of Time when it was new, which is how I got so into it and started using the Player's Guide to become more intimate with the game.

Then Majora's Mask released, and as creepy as it felt when it first came out, I have long since realized it is considerably creepier than I ever thought when I was younger.😅

Wind Waker is the one where I really dove deep from the get go, I just loved the tone and aesthetic and open sea, and the OoT Master Quest preorder bonus gave me a great reason to delve back into the N64 titles.

He played MM and WW as well (he would call WW Wind Breaker😅), and we would watch each other, but it never seemed like he played them as much as Ocarina, he had spent so much time in that game.

He never played Twilight Princess, which I consider my fault for not showing it to him sooner.

He had seen me playing Skyward Sword with my then gf a few times years ago when it first released, but he never really became familiar with it.

I did manage to introduce him to and show him some parts of TP and SS just in the last year before he left, so I'm glad about that...

Zelda has always been special for our family, and I still regret not showing him BotW as I didn't pick it up right away even though I planned to, and he never touched the Switch so I would have had to show him it specifically, but I kept putting it off...

Such great, PROFOUND memories, all of them.

At least he got to see The Mario Movie with me in the theater while he was still here.

Three part movie starting from when link is a child to an adult. Maybe a lord of the Rings type feeling, this could be Epic!
