Villa Eftaxia, wreck of 'Mediterranean Sky'

Показать описание
On the old coastal National Road heading from Elefsina to Corinth, in the area of Loutropyrgos, Attica, at the 29th kilometer, lies the abandoned Villa Eftaxias.
There the politician Lambros Eftaxias chose to build his country house for the summer holidays and weekends. It is a special piece of land, a rock that arises, it seems, from the force exerted by the end of Mount Patera, known as Trikeri, in its attempt to get into the sea – a boundary known since antiquity as the border between Attica, the Thriasian Plain and the Megarian plain.
The country house of Lambros Eftaxias was the first architectural project of Aris Konstantinidis, which he completed in 1939, just two years after finishing his studies at the Technical University of Munich, at the age of 25.
From the magnificent view to the sea that we have from the courtyard of the villa, you can clearly see the wreck of the ship MS Mediterranean Sky.
The MS Mediterranean Sky was a combination passanger liner built in 1953 for EllermanLines' service between London and South Africa. Originally named MS City of York, she was sold in 1971 to Karageorgis Line, converted to a cruiseferry and renamed.
Harry, Antonis, Panagiotis thank you very much for the nice ride in today's spots.
