When I eventually confronted my narc and asked point blank "Did I do something to offend you?" all I got was a blank stare (narcissistic stare?), as if they hadn't heard a word I said. It was very strange.

Yes. They also love dodging their responsibilities, or refusing to do the right thing, but they just don’t want others to find out. So if you ask them if they will do the right thing in front of others, they will agree to it with a fake smile and clenched teeth 😂 If you asked them in private, who knows what shenanigans they would have put you through. Always bring a witness.

If I ever asked something he would give me the silent treatment, and if I asked something that I know was no go zone silent treatment was lasting for couple of days.

I experienced this with my mom dad and sister. I just asked each of them a specific question. Wtf are you talking about? After they stopped being histrionic and broken. I just told em. I can’t work with your inability to be clear. If I can’t ask questions I can’t help you. They know to leave me alone.

Exactly! He always refused to have any conversation that would bring me any clarity about all his weird behavior. I am all about giving people the benefit of the doubt, but when l picked up on this "hide and seek" pattern (among other things) l recognized it and knew he was a Narcissist. And l've been in no contact ever since- almost a year now. This guy is so messed up in the head that he is still "hoovering" and harassing me almost every day outside my apartment window by screaming/begging me to "return to him". What gives? We were just crushing on each other, never even kissed. But l realized early on that he did not value me & I lost interest once l saw that despite how handsome he is and how attractive his personality is to me. He is relentlessly "pursuing" me as stated above for a year and a half now. It doesn't occur to him to approach me directly to talk, no he'd rather scream and make a scene in front of all my neighbors and even talks to them saying that l am ignoring him.. l really wish he would stop and move on to someone else. I wish he would just DISAPPEAR from my life.

100% correct - he would go into a fit of rage when called out and then immediately flee the scene - absolutely would not sit through a confrontation because he knew I had become very adept at catching lies through the eyes and body language.

I asked my ex something about a lie from the past and immediately was like "this cherry bubblegum smells really nice!" and them jumping back with "oh, where were we with the conversation?". It is hilarious now!
