Guys read the vanity fair article. Benicios character is not named DJ. That's just the way Ryan Johnson and other crew call him because they don't want to reveal the name of the character. Ryan does say that there is a reason behind the nickname though.

I hope that little dog is literally Luke's dog in the movie, he's not force sensitive, but a wily sidekick, who outsmarts the bad guys with his quick pace and wacky dog antics, like the dog from the Mask, or the dogs from Beethoven.

Been waiting for a video like this all day, loving the new reveals, cant wait for The Last Jedi, that picture of Mark Hamill & Carrie Fisher together is both beautiful and sad.

DJ could be Ezra Bridger from Star Wars Rebels. As Del Toro would be around his age at the time of TLJ. Also if you look closely he has a scar on his cheek and Ezra Bridger has that exact same scar in the show. Del Toro doesn't have a scar like that in real life so it wouls have to have been added intentionally. Disney has already proven there willing to use characters from the shows like Saw Gerrera so having Ezra play a part in the film doesn't seem like an outlandish idea to me.
