Innocence claims from convicted killer Marcellus Williams prompted multiple legal efforts to spare his life. Questions were raised over a lack of DNA evidence, the credibility of witnesses, and whether race was a factor at trial.

Brown & Crouppen attorney Andrea McNairy joined us in studio Tuesday to discuss the latest legal challenges in a case that’s gained national attention.

it's not about innocence, it's about _due process._ lead prosecutor Keith Larner admitted he mishandled the murder weapon and excluded Black people from the jury. investigator Edward Sagee admitted he contaminated the murder weapon. the prosecution's DNA, along with an unknown person's, was found on the weapon. *_that's cause for reasonable doubt, of both the integrity of the investigation and the conviction._*

the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond a legal reasonable doubt-- that's why Sagee and Larner backed a life imprisonment deal. you don't execute someone off of "probability, " because you _could be wrong._ Governor Parson's disregard for due process should alarm us. no one should be executed by the state if the prosecutor's office doesn't even agree they proved their case sufficiently.

WOW!! We are discussing what should happen to a man who has 15 prior felony convictions. Only in America do we waste taxpayer funds on these types of issues. The issue here is how can activists remake America.

Frankly, I don't know what to believe. All I can say is that if there was any doubt, any grounds for habeas corpus or any other sort of review or appeal, then he should have been kept alive.

Heartbreaking that the execution was carried out especially since there was evidence exonerating him. Now the family must sue and prevail.

Crimes are solved by DNA like fingerprints and blood so if his DNA wasn’t at the crime scene, this man should still be alive…

Likely all because Missouri didn't want to pay him the colossal amount he would deserved for their injustice.
'Vengeance is mine says the Lord". You chose your path Missouri... and you will more than likely regret where it leads.
Condolences to Mr Williams family. RIP Mr Williams.

A race was definitely a factor. That judge needs to be investigated

Governor Parson will have to answer to God for this.

This will be yet another case where the true murderer will be found in future, and we'll all look back at the fact that this man died for no reason.

This isn't the 1st time it's happened, and unfortunately may not be the last.
