Several years ago I was telling my brother the process I had come up with for getting out of debt. When I finished, he said debt snowball. I asked him what that was and he said Dave Ramsey. He then proceeded to tell me about Dave Ramsey and that's how him and his wife got out of debt ( I would be shocked if they are not millionaires and my wife and I are very close to it). The point being is I used the same exact process that you teach and it worked. If it aint broke don't fix it.

Having all that debt spread across multiple accounts like that is what makes the snowball method so successful. Get that first one paid off and then it's a constant string of success.

"There's a great place to go when you're broke - to work"

Don't shortcut yourself in the learning opportunity: change your habit through the work of getting rid of the problem AND your debt. I can share from personal experience. I rushed the process with a shortcut and landed myself right back in the same spot because I did not take care of the problem- my personal habits. Don't do what I did. It costs a lot more than money in the short and long run.

Jade answered this question extremely well, which is what she was hired to do and since she herself has experience paying off half a million in debt on a modest income. Then I scroll down and read the comments, and people are saying "She is trying too hard" and she should just "Sit there and shut up". Why, her answer was correct? The amount of hate she gets is because people want her to stay in "her place" instead of being true to herself and who she is. Why can't she share what she knows? Why can't jump in and answer a question if she knows the answer?! Why don't you haters just shut up and let people do what they were hired to do. I guarantee you she is better at this job than you were in the first three months of whatever job you are working. Take some notes you may learn something.

I don’t think many people with HELOC debt consider the risk of losing their home and only see the “low interest rate. “

They are taking a considerable risk and don’t realize it (or the lender doesn’t disclose the risk).

I’m shocked at all the critical comments about Jade. She’s literally one of the best Ramsey Personalities!

There is no tax savings with home equity loan. Home equity loan interest is only tax deductible if the loan is used to improve your current home, or buy a new one. The blank cheque when you could deduct it for any reason is over.
