I have heard you can't dehumidify dry air, but this setup sure tries to break the norms!

I just came from an ac maintenance, customer had mold growing on some of the vents, when I went upstairs to check air handler found that somebody "tried" to condition the attic, but they literally just put drywall up and that's it. Unfortunately at my company we don't do any type of air sealing, the only offer I had was to have a whole house dehumidifier.

No one in my area knew how to properly install one. Even after finding a company, the one I had installed was well done on the return/supply, but the fresh air side was sucking in under the insulation! I had to re-do the whole fresh air side myself because it was awful and severely elevated particle counts.

This is essentially the preferred method shown in the install manual with exception to the 6ft separation. Check it out if you don't believe me. Page 10, figure 11.

Not partly hot and humid because of the hole...
it takes 7% of air leak in sprayed attic to create massive problems.

Actually the vented attic is even worse! However the unit is not measuring humidity in the attic at all.
