Giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will bring in an elected government for sure but will it guarantee peace ? Statehood was removed to give powers to the Lt Governor under direct central rule. Violence and terrorism from across the border will continue and if elected to power the Abdullahs and muftis will turn a blind eye to terrorist as long as their lives are not at stake.
