Twilight Monk - A pleasingly familiar genre blend

Today I'm talking about a new game that combines the dungeons of Zelda, the exploratory 2D platforming of a metroidvania, and the overworld map of a JRPG. It's Twilight Monk and it currently available on PC and Switch.

I received a key for this game from the publisher. Game footage is my own, recorded on PC. Music is from the game.

Nice find. Sounds like it does a bunch of stuff pretty well, even if it doesn't have any one exceptional hook. Sometimes a solid 10 hour Metroidvania is just what I need.

Twilight Monk feels like a high res update on LOZ2: the Adventure of Link. You use an overhead view to traverse an overworld map. Enemy encounters and dungeons are side-scrolling affairs. The dungeons are sizable. Your character levels up, from combat. You also come across mobility upgrades, special attacks and figure out what to do next by talking to NPC’s. Going to sound old here, but Twilight Monk takes me right back to 1987. This game has the goods.
