i think for SHM its better to prove the equations with calculus for a thorough understanding so people know it from two points of view; the mathematical point of view and the physics point of view. I find it better since its harder to forget when it can be applied to two subjects

Shouldn't the equation for Tension of a pendulum at the bottom be T=mv^2/r - mg ? Because mg acts downwards and the centripetal force acts upwards towards the pivot?
