I need to see a "getting to top tier" series from this man. It would actually be so entertaining

I'm certain you already researched a bit and a lot of the things happening in the video are for comedic purposes (at least at some point during recording) but

- yeah bringing bombs in Air realistic battles (short: Air RB or AAB) when in a fighter is a bad Idea, to bomb bases use a bomber. Which is an entirely new level of suffering in itself, trust me
- avoid taking head-on engagements. While killing planes is easier for you this way, naturally that's the case for the enemy too.
- some planes are great for turn fighting, some should be played at a higher altitude than the enemy to then dive on them and re-climb after a pass (boom and zooming)
-You already conserve ammo better than me.
- land on your Airfield when too damaged and you can escape/ when out of ammo
- don't run after enemies on their way to their airfield
- don't abuse your airfield to kill enemies chasing you ;) (also you won't gain anything, neither in terms of skill improvement nor the kill. You might win the game this way and gain more research points, but that's also luck dependent and inefficient)
- there are SO MANY high level players down there to seal club so don't be too hard on yourself when losing.
- there are SO MANY high level players down there to research new tech trees, they've just gotten their high level before they got to a new nation, not all are seal clubbers.
- ABSOLUTELY have fun, no point in continuing something that doesn't spark joy.
- arcade needs a different skill set than realistic. Most Air RB mains would get destroyed there too. Yes they might get a good amount of kills in Air AB, but would die in the clusterfock that ensues regardless. Same with Tanks, arcade and realistic have different play styles.
- arcade are fast high intensity battles (most of the time) and realistic does not hold hands as much, is slower and more methodical.
- RB might get more fun in the future once you learned the ropes in AB

True hardest is playing sim air for the entire session. Especially when you have little experience

I’m glad you listened to me, and wow, seeing my own comment getting the spotlight in a video feels weird man.

Maybe you’re like me and would enjoy more maneuverable plane rather than fast ones.
For that, I recommend any fighter biplane, the Japanese or the Spitfire.

Despite spending my time in arcade, I use the I-153 exclusively in realistic. A fast maneuvrable biplane at 2.3 with good armament just feels so good to use, and has definitely boosted my kill number per match to around 3-6 on a good day. There’s no guarantee in war, but this plane is truly my fav for RB. And it’s not 1.3 or less so I don’t feel bad shooting down noobs who don’t know the finer plane mechanics. Those are gotten with time. And not being cocky.

Keep playing what you want and have fun!

(Also I betcha all those dudes bullying you for playing arcade have never been in simulator for more than 1 minute before flipping their plane on the runway taking off, so, look how the tables turn.)

As someone who has reached top their American jets the biggest thing I would recommend to you is to 1.) Gain as much altitude as you can without losing your speed. 2.) When you are attacking a enemy plane from the front shoot a swarm of bullets at .9-.7 km away then pull away from the enemy plane. After these aspects have been learned air realistic can be very fun (especially when you go mach 1.2 straight into the battle. Great video!

Well, as someone who played realistic first instead of arcade because my friends forced me to, i can say, this video is spot on. But in contrast, realistic feels like there's more stakes to your decisions and skills (i don't like the 5 min flight to the battle too, but this time loss also adds to the feeling of wanting to win and not die), it has a different thrill when compared to arcade. When you start to figure realistic out, it's so much more fulfilling, and it shows how much you learned the game so you don't lose 10 years in queue and dying to the first merge.

The harsh nature of War Thunder is what kept me playing. (Maybe i'm just insane idk)

I've been playing Air RB since 2013. Slow, crappy low-tier planes are universally seen as the most fun to fly, so you will run into a mix of rookies and very experienced players like me who single-handedly carry their team. The "bad" P-39Q you unlocked is among the best planes in the game, so it really is a question of experience.
The bases and ground targets are a distraction, the real objective is to eliminate enemy players. Also, don't get within 5km of the enemy airfield, you will die. This can be exploited by flying around you airfield or running to it in the first sign of danger, but there is a special place in hell for players who do that.
Getting good at air RB and consistently demolishing the enemy team is among the most satisfying things in this game. I can easily go to arcade, pick a fast plane with good guns and get a 5-10kill game without dying, but that gets boring really fast.

You can land on a friendly airfield to rearm, repair, and refuel.

“I can feel the life being dragged out of me when I die” - that is literally me. That’s the entire war thunder experience. You should find a squad or friends to play with to ease the suffering. That’s how I kept my sanity (just barely) intact. Also, I think you should change your mindset while flying. You were flying to get kills, which led to you getting in head on engagements and dying. Instead, focus on prioritizing living and defensive flying. Don’t feel too bad about this though. There’s a big rivalry between arcade and realistic players in the game, but it’s mostly just seeing who suffers more.

I'm sure you realised this eventually but in case anyone else is wondering - you can reload your guns by landing at a friendly airfield and stopping.

Started playing WT in 2014, and it's been my main game since. As much as I'd never want to start this game from scratch ever again, it's always nice to see what it's like for a new player nowadays. Getting good at Realistic Battles was one of the most fun learning curves in any game I've experienced, even with all the struggles involved.

“Is this how bad player looks?” Yes, yes it is.

Also I can’t ignore the absolute noobness of jamming your guns, like holy hell thats bad.

Hey if u need more help i can give some! 1st in Realistic batles if u go back to the airbase u can recharge your amo and bombs, 2nd in any tipe of battle first fly high and then dive towards a unnoticed enemy. 3rd If u wana get more bases destroyed and win a battle use bombers, dont worry in Realistic and arcade battles the spawn high in the sky which decreases by 70% the number on enemy fighters u will face.
Also good luck with your grinding! :)

My favourite plane for RB is Cannon Chaika. It's just absolutely hillarious to see Zero and Spitfire pilots suffer heroic BSOD and try to turnfight a biplane, after failing to BnZ it. For more "conventional" experience it's recommend Fw-190D-9, though it is a plane rather for patient people.
