London's Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has proposed several bus changes. If re-elected on the second of May, He will implement 10 new Superloop routes, Including a Bakerloo line express bus. Sadiq will also extend route 210, Which will be converted to single deckers. And review bringing London's buses into public ownership.

Part 1: Superloop 2.
Currently, there are 9 Superloop express bus routes, With route SL4 starting in March 2025. The 10 new proposed routes will be...

• Leytonstone to South Havering, via Gants Hill (for the SL2) and Romford.
This route is likely to follow route 66 up to Romford.
• Barnet to Stratford, via Walthamstow (for the SL1 and SL2), Enfield and Chingford.
This route could follow the 97 or 158 from Stratford to Chingford, And route 307 between Barnet and Enfield.
• Barnet to Harrow (for the SL9 and SL10), via Edgware.
• Hendon (for the SL10) to Ealing Broadway (for the SL8), Via Brent Cross and Hanger Lane.
This route could follow the 112, which runs from North Finchley to Ealing.
• Ealing Broadway (for the SL8) to Kingston (for the SL7), Via Great West Road and Richmond.
This route follows the 65 which also runs from Ealing to Kingston
• Hounslow to Hammersmith via Great West Road.
This route would likely follow route H91, which runs from Hounslow West to Hammersmith.
• Richmond to Wimbledon, via Roehampton.
This route could be an express version of route 493 to Putney Heath, And route 93 from Putney Heath to Wimbledon.
• Streatham to Eltham, via Tulse Hill (for the SL6, which would now stop here).
• North Greenwich to Thamesmead, via Woolwich.
This route would be an express version of route 472.
• And finally, the Bakerloop route. This route would follow the unbuilt Bakerloo line extension. It would run from Elephant & Castle to Lewisham, Via Burgess Park, Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate. Buses will be fitted with Bakerloo line moquettes, and will have a Bakerloo style colour scheme.

Route SL7, which currently runs from Heathrow Airport to West Croydon, Could be cut to Sutton from West Croydon. This route is currently the longest in London, And cutting the route could allow electric buses to run on it.

The SL7's withdrawn section would be replaced by an extended route SL5, Which currently runs from Bromley to Croydon Town Centre.
So far, no route numbers have been announced for the new Superloop routes.

Part 2: An extension to route 210.
Sadiq has proposed to extend route 210 to Stamford Hill. The route currently runs from Brent Cross to Finsbury Park. Via Golders Green, Hampstead Heath, Highgate Village, Archway and Crouch Hill. The route would use single decker buses, Even though the 210 has been retained by Metroline with new double deckers.

Part 3: The new "London Bus Company".
Another pledge by Sadiq is to establish a new London Bus Company, Which would bring routes into public ownership. Under Kahn's new policy, once contracts expire, Public ownership under the new operator would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

The 210 change is now not going ahead, instead a new route 310 is to be made, running from Golders Green to Stamford Hill. This new route will be run by Stagecoach with existing diesel single deckers, starting on the 31st of August. For more details:

Sorry but I’m not a fan of the 210 extension. You’re gonna sacrifice double deckers just for it to follow the 253 and 254?!

I really believe that if a bus route can be double decked, it should be. So the idea of downsizing the 210/310 is barmy.
Also if they're going to split the Barnet to Stratford route at Chingford, maybe the Eastern section could be extended into the Isle of Dogs.

The route between Streatham and Eltham might follow the P13 Streatham- Lordship Lane, then 185 Horniman Museum- Catford and then it might follow the 160 Catford- Eltham, but I think that it would go in a straight line, not in loops like these routes do

Extend the 210 from Finsbury Park to Stamford Hill, so the whole route will be Brent Cross to Stamford Hill? And single deck only so that it can fit through that low bridge? Bloody hell! And no, I don’t think the Barnet-Stratford route will follow the 97 completely, because if it does, it’ll have missed Chingford Station and the only way for it to have gone via Chingford Station is for it to go via the 307 between Barnet and Enfield, then via the 313 to Chingford Station, then via the 397 to Bancrofts School, then via the 20 to Walthamstow Central, then via the 58 to Leyton and then via the 158 to Stratford

Thanks for this most interesting video, which seems to indicate that TfL has quite quickly decided that thw first tranche of SL routes have been a success (unless this is totally to do with the mayoral elections). I'm pleased about this, as I have for a long time felt that London's non-central transport network would be improved by some express bus routes: many people I know who live in 'outer London' travel more to other suburbs than to the centre - but the underground lines all run into the centre, and there is now limited disused railway to be added to the very successful Overground. And - as this announcement emphasises - expressbus routes can be up and going in a fraction of the time a rail line needs to become operational, and at a fraction of the cost.

In particular, I'm pleased at the 'BakerLoop' proposal. Doubtless it will gain less custom than the tube line, when finally built, will generate, but it will be something, and it will indicate how urgently the new line should be developed. There are other possible tube extensions which could be trialled in the same way. Also, I feel that there would be other possibilities for linking up main-line suburban rail with underground links (like Thameslink and the Liz line - but less grand) and these too could be preceded by express bus links across the centre.

Look forward to your next video

I think the plan for the Hammersmith to Hounslow route will be a mix of the 110 and H91 and the Richmond-Kingston route won’t follow the 65 completely, it could go via the E8 too and likewise, although this hasn’t been said, the Leytonstone-South Havering route could go via the 257 to Stratford, then 86 to Ilford Hill, then via the 296 to Gants Hill, followed by the 66/296 to Romford and so on or another alternative I’ve got in mind for it, is why doesn’t it go via the 247 from Romford to Fencepiece Road, link up with the 275 from there and then go to Walthamstow via the 275 and then via the 257 to Leytonstone? Or perhaps, it could go via the 5 to Green Street, then via the 58 to Leytonstone High Road and then via the 257 to Leytonstone or via the 5 to Canning Town, narrowly miss Canning Town Bus Station like the 276 does, go via it to Stratford and then via the 257 to Leytonstone?

no idea why he wants to change 210, it's already fine as it is. 40 or so minutes from brent cross to finsbury park. With a single decker it will make people stand up for most of the route since it gets a bit busy at times with a double decker alone.

The Superloop 2 proposals are such an exciting prospect for the bus network in Outer London. What's your favourite proposed Superloop 2 route @MostlyBuses1? Mine is the Ealing Broadway to Kingston one cause I always thought route 65 needed an express counterpart in the past and now it could be potentially happening.

Great video by the way.

I'd like the Havering Superloop route to at least go through Marks Gate and Collier Row, instead of just following the 66 to Romford, this could be done, by going up Hainault and Billet Road, then via the 247 into Romford, which would provide one area of North Havering, with a Quicker link to the Central and District lines at either Newbury Park or Elm Park Stations, and take some passengers off the 175/247/252/365, and properly link Marks Gate with Collier Row.

where London superloop 2 come out by date?

For example new route '239' would be a good match from Sydenham - Greenwich, Cutty Sark via Westwood Hill, Newlands Park, Lennard Road, Kings Hall Road, Bridge Road, Copers Cope Road, Southend Road, Beckenham Hill Road, Bromley Road, Bellingham Road, Hazelbank Road, Verdant Lane, South Circular Road, Burnt Ash Hill, Lee Road, Tranquil Vale, Goffers Road, Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath Hill, Greenwich South Street and Greenwich High Road (New Bus Stand) left unserved routes between Lennard Road, Kings Hall Road, Bridge Road, Copers Cope Road, Bellingham Road, Hazelbank Road and Goffers Road can provide new areas where south east London needs New Beckenham - new Bakerloo line extension near Kings Hall Road. 'X239' renumber 'SL4' Grove Park - Canary Wharf, Things that TfL can reused '239' should get first lowest number somewhere along the line.

I sent out a proposed email to the mayor or London about one of my own made up Superloop buses with the same name, the Superloop 2. Literally some of terminases and middle stops are being used for the new round of superloops. Idk if they used my ideas or just public compaints, but one of the buses is just too similar to one I made up
