"A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead does a commendable job of taking the uniquely silent scary movie series and spinning it into an interactive adventure, even if its methods for sustaining stress seem a bit too clearly contrived at times. I greatly appreciated the many handcrafted human touches that made its evacuated spaces so evocative, and the safety net of its consistent auto-save meant that my numerous instant deaths never became a source of frustration. However, although it may maintain a regularly tense atmosphere every shuffled step of the way, the absence of any significant story surprises or enough substantial changes to its simplistic stealth-based gameplay means that A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead doesn’t quite have enough twists and turns to make for an unmissable journey."

I can’t finish watching. The weird higher syllable cadence in this guys speech pattern every 5 seconds is wearing on me too much. Can’t reviewers just talk like normal people?

The mic monitoring feature was left out of this review. It adds an extra layer of stress, if there’s any loud noise in your personal environment the game can pick it up and cause the alien to attack you. 😢

Finished it last night. I wasn’t expecting a huge amount considering it was only £25 so I’d recommend it for survival horror fans. The first 2 hours were really good fun but the repetitive nature started to grate on me after a while until I just wanted it to end on the last few missions. The plot and character development is very thin unfortunately as it starts quite strong. And the tutorials, my word…. Just turn them off in the main menu before starting.

To me, it was pretty to look at, especially if you are a fan of the movie. But, objectively without nostalgia googles... the plot was very predictive and sometimes very cringeworthy, the asthma mechanics are too annoying after 2 hours of the same. It is very linear (the game forces you to play as it wants you, you can´t be creative in approaching it), and all the constant pop-up menus killed the vibe and immersion... It´s a Lesser Alien Isolation, for sure. I know that a rule of survivor horror is that the main character is overpowered by the enemy.
I don´t know, A snail simulator with asthma sounds like a good description, you really need to like the movie a lot for this one to be good.

Why was the audio feature where it can hear you through the controller speaker not talked about? I wanted to hear about that in the review more than anything else honestly. It seems like a really big thing that didn’t get mentioned at all.

get yourself well immersed.
Well worth £25 you can't go wrong.
