When browsing for books to read, I always look for book reviews. This year has certainly brought up some great and not so great reads but I've found some favorite books nonetheless. That is why I bring you the Show Me a Book Tag that quickly turned into a very chatty video about the books I've read recently and me losing my mind over some of the new book releases of 2021/popular book releases. Booktube has buzzed about some of these books… But did I enjoy them? I hope you guys enjoy this one and come out with more books to add to your TBR and some good book recommendations for 2021!

Mel, you should keep trying reading Six of Crows. I promise you that it’s really really good and there’s a reason why it was made into a netflix show 🥺👌🏻

I think you'll definitely like the six of crows audiobook, honestly that's my favorite way of reading the leigh bardugo books so far. I read the last two from rhe grisha trilogy that way, reread six of crows and read the crooked Kingdom after I got in a reading slump trying to read it physically. I don't know what it is, I just vibe with her books better that way (maybe is a language barrier). I wish you good luck!

Six of crows took me so long to read !!... I don't know what that is about as much as I liked the story while I was reading it was definitely almost like work to read now when I think of it, six of crows is a great book with great characters and just the reading process can be a bit hard....😁 btw mel, I LOVED the video!!!!💕💖🤩

Taylor Swift makes so many book references in her songs especially Fitzgerald's books!! She's a big fan of The Great Gatsby and her song Champagne Problems remind me of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott!!
Also her song Tolerate it is inspired by Rebecca by Daphne De Maurier

I would love to see a video (and maybe you have already done it) on how and what you annotate in books. I'm a curious 64 year old who is so glad about all the great YA books out there (they didn't have them in my day!) And Strange the Dreamer (listened to it to/from work) had me sitting in my car, screaming 'NO, NO, NO' during the ending of the book. Actually the last few chapters. So I had to buy hardcopies of that one and Muse of Nightmares. Thank you for all your efforts. You do a fantastic job.

I think you should try more Jane Austen books, they are so cozy and fun to read, and also if liked the style of Pride and Prejudice, I can definetly recommend Little Woman by Louisa May Alcott. And also I'm a huge Swiftie, so the fact that you love Speak Now made me love you even more.

here are some of my answers to the questions!! (this is gonna be pretty long😅)

a book that makes you think of happiness: definitely also percy jackson, absolutely love that series

a book that made you mad: the invisible life of addie larue, i thought it was so boring and absolutely nothing happened that it just frustrates me still when i think about it even though i read it a year ago😅 this book is also the reason i couldn’t reach my reading goal last year bc i spent 2 weeks reading it

a book that got me into fantasy: six of crows! it’s one of the first fantasy series i read and absolutely loved it, crooked kingdom has such a special place in my heart

a book that made you gasp out loud: ace of spades. there were so many twists and reveals and even though i saw those reveals coming i was still so shocked when they happened

a book with angsty enemies to lovers: also these violent delights. the ANGST, the TENSION, its EVERYTHING!! chapters 29 and 30... if you know you know

a book that made you cry: cemetery boys, the ending had me absolutely sobbing. also radio silence by alice oseman, i love that book so much.

a book that’s a veteran on your tbr: where do i begin😅 i have way too many books on my shelf i have to read, but i’ll say this savage song by ve schwab. i’ve owned this book for years and have yet to read it, idk why

a book that is popular and you didn’t like it: the house in the cerulean sea... i just didn’t love it as much as other people, idk why it was so hyped up but i think the hype is what made me disappointed in it

a book that has the most beautiful naked cover: king of scars and rule of wolves. the foiling on the naked covers are just so gorgeous, i have them on my shelf without the dust jackets bc they’re so beautiful

a book that gives you taylor swift song vibes: the seven husbands of evelyn hugo and red white & royal blue remind me of illicit affairs so much, that song fits perfectly with them

a book everyone should read: know my name by chanel miller. it’s a memoir written by the survivor of the stanford sexual assault case and it goes into her dealing with the courts and the trial, and just everything about how that event impacted her life. it’s such a heartbreaking and frustrating book to read, but i think everyone should read it, especially on audiobook because she narrates it herself and her emotions are so prevalent in her narration

The audio of Six of Crows is Phenomenal!!! I’m not sure I would have been able to read it without the audio.

Starfish was one of my favorite books from last year. The mom is on a list of book characters I want to fight. I didn't research the trigger warnings before reading it either so some sensitive content blindsided me too. StoryGraph is a good resource for finding content warnings because you can see them without combing through individual reviews.
