My mom got diagnosed with dementia when I was a teen. Died a few years later. My dad also got affected some 10 yrs later. He got put in a nursing home but I quit my job and took him home and took care of him 24/7 for years before he passed at home as he wished. It was the hardest thing i’ve ever been through doing it all alone being the only child and family. For example he was in a wheelchair and i had to change his postion in bed every 3 hrs around the clock. Lost friends and relatives that didnt support my decision. and i was broken many years afterwards. That being said, he was my best friend and i would do it all over again though….

Thank you great chat. I work as a respite carer here in Australia. We consider the family just as important as the person receiving the care; we serve both. Hopefully more people will become aware of these valuable services and be able to access them more readily in the future.

If the cognitive part of the brain is diminishing, the autonomic part of the brain is also diminishing. That means eventually life sustaining things just stop working. It is very emotionally difficult to go through with loved ones. Thank you for having this guest on your channel today. Sorry to learn of the expectations on GPs in Canada. In the US, we have far more time for in office visits and were fortunate enough to have had experience with a GP who specialized in geriatric medicine. Some excellent insights from the guest.

Didn’t know shuffling was a part of dementia. My mom walks on these mini shuffles. I was like why are you walking in such teeny steps? Makes sense now

Hello psych2go, I am so sorry about not paying acknowledgement to the topic at hand, but I wanted to see if you could make a video where you could give tips on how to keep your relationship long term? If not that is ok, thank you for your time.

You may remember me for talking about how I feel like the world is a dream in a bathroom here’s a update:

Update:

It’s happening more now? It’s 1:46 AM it’s midnight right now and I’m on my bed listening to a playlist when I switch it to when it feels like a dream because I feel like I’m in a dream, like a really long dream. I don’t know how this happens, any guesses? (P.S happens often? In a month or a week? Idk)

Great video and very insightful, I think we all should know that God is good and sometimes he pushes you to places and opportunities you never knew you needed. I just got to realize that trading comes with a lot of benefits And I have just bought my first house through it. As a beginner I was scared of loosing my savings but l'm glad I took the bold step that is now favoring me.

Good content thank you.
I did however really dislike the way you abruptly cut from your intro to your subject with the change in your physical appearance . This would be upsetting to many dementia patients.
My brother and I cared for both our parents with dementia for 10 years. Hardest thing I have ever done.
