I have tourette syndrome, and although I haven't had any tics since I was a child, I still find I gravitate a lot to certain phrases. Some random sentence will pop into my head and my mind just latches right on, and often when I'm alone I'll catch myself repeating it back to myself. Favoured phrases can last anywhere from a week to over a year before I finally get over it. It's odd because it's not really a tic since it's completely voluntary, but there's just some weird comfort in it, even though it annoys me on some level how much I repeat it.
