A message from Kristine, founder of NurseInTheMaking📣
My name is Kristine and I survived nursing school…and you can too!
Nurse In The Making was inspired during my time in nursing school. I immediately struggled and decided to create my own study guides. These guides have helped me personally as well as many others make nursing school just a little more manageable.I hope you find comfort knowing that everyone struggles at times. Nursing school is emotionally and physically draining. I hope these informative, clean, and simple guides help you navigate through all the information because there is A LOT of it in nursing school.

Happy Studying Future Nurses. Don't forget to enjoy the journey!

A little trick for dealing with the smells is to always have strong mint gum or Altoids with you and when you are faced with a smelly cloud of your job's wonderful aromas pop a few in your mouth, put a mask (or two) on and breath with your mouth slightly open the minty breath will help with the smell and also help settle your stomach that such foul odors upset. It is slso more respectful to your patient than making faces (the masks help with this), waving your hands in front of you or spraying an entire bottle of "stink chances are your patient is already embarrassed, don't make it worse.

I was an evening shift CNA while in nursing school, you haven't experienced fun until you go on final rounds at 10 pm and walk into your patients room and the liquid stool is dripping onto the floor and the confused patient is painting the side rails with their own poop😂 😂

It's all gross and disgusting until it actually happens to you as the patient so try being in their shoes. I've lost my bowels after fainting once and the nurses were so understanding and just the greatest at making me comfortable. Thanks to all healthcare workers. ❤❤❤😊😊😊 🫂 🤗 👐 🫂 ❤

I got my CNA certification in high school when I was 17. In hospital clinicals I remember me and another girl rolling very heavy lady over to change her bedsheets and she proceeded to take the biggest and smelliest shit I had ever seen or smelled. It just kept coming out of her like an ice cream machine. Gross but that's the best way to accurately depict the situation.

when I started CNA, I witnessed so many naked elderly people, poop, pee, all the works.
In the moment, I actually wasn’t grossed out at all, I think I was in work mode so I tuned it out.

I'm an cna and this happens all time. When your turning and repositioning a person, it helps them digest. That's why they pass gas.

Cause some nurses think they only need to pass meds. Until you’re all alone in the ICU

Yup! Arrived on the unit first day, asked where my preceptor was, followed her into a room to help with an enema…it lasted 5 seconds before it was getting pushed out.

When I was in hospital after my car crash one of the guy nurse would come into the room looking like a astronaut with a full body suit and helmet on. It was the coolest thing I ever seen

My mom was stuck working as a CNA for years
I was indirectly traumatised as a result, ngl, as I was the only person she could talk about her work with for so long

I went to school to be CNA at age 50. I was the oldest student in class and had the highest grades.
I was very proud UNTIL we did the clinical portion in a nursing home. I, then, became the one who gagged the most 😂😮😂😮
So, I became a dog groomer😂😂😂 Dogs don't care if you gag 😂😂😂

When you shadow a Certified PT at Inpatient settings and you see all the dirty work get done. Just a glimpse of what actually happens. This reel is on point with that

I just started nursing school and i’m so nervous. I want to be the best nurse I can be however, I have a very weak stomach. Not to sights but mainly to smell, i’m scared I’ll accidentally gag or do something rude in front of a patient. I really don’t want to make someone feel twice as bad especially for something they can’t control.
