Awesome video! In case anyone else is wondering, like I was, PFL stands for "Pre-Fader Listen"

Great comparison of both with different use cases.

I got the MG10XUF for £3 more the the 10UX, so it was a no brainer for me to go for the one with faders, pfl and channel on off.

I've been very happy with my desk for the past 2 years.

I found this very helpful. I am somewhat new to mixers and found the explanation of what the features that are different between the two, and how you could use those features extremely helpful. I know sound guru's would already know these things, but for me it makes an amazing difference in how I understand what to do with a mixer. Thank you!!

If you compare sizes. The extra lenght of the MG10XUF is what you get in extra lenght for the faders. It's a lot. 👍

Just picked up the MG10XUF from Reverb thanks to your video. Was looking for something decent for hosting open mics, but also something I could use for a long time. The Faders/Channel Mutes sold it for me.

Man, great video.... I almost bought the Yamaha MG10XU, not knowing the XUF existed. One of my main concerns is the "mute" switch for each channel, (On buttom). I play live (Guitar and cell and two mics), and turning of the mics when it's not a vocal song is really important. Worth the extra cash. The PFL monitor is also very useful for sound check, and the "kill switch". You really brought out the key differences for me and helped with my purchase....thanks a heap, (from

Hi Jordan …. A BIG Thank you from the UK here …so, so helpful
Was about to buy the XU, but having now done our 1st DJ set using 2 Controllers ….. the real benefit of having sliders is we can use 1 hand to easily mix between the chosen controller … hadn’t realised this necessity before. Cheers Bro

👍 Very helpful video. This helped me to decide to go with the MG10XUF. You made very good points about why faders are better than knobs that I didn't think about before. Some of the other features you pointed out about the MG10XUF that I wasn't aware of definitely make it look like the much better choice of the 2 mixers. I was at first wanting to go with something smaller and a little cheaper but MG10XUF has a lot of flexibility for many different situations that make it worth it.

Just picked up the MG10XUF from guitar center bc they were doing a sale, it may still be going on for those wanting to buy the console, great video thoroughly explaining both products. I would like to know more about using channels 1&2 as left and right signals so that the compressor and mid eq would be accessible to the sounds routed in, also I would be exporting this to a daw using the usb cable so I would love to know if you have a video on that as well. Other than that thank you for taking the time out to provide newer musicians and music lovers with a very informative video I appreciate it and am sure others will as well.

So basically if you just want to use instrument+mic at home get the XU - since you rarely need to adjust anything once you perfectly setup things for your home. If you got multiple people/Inputs which changes and in a new envoirement = get the xuf.

Do you have a video explaining how to set-up the channels for gaming etc? For the XUF? Would love to watch that!

Also, the MG10’s accept a mic stand adapter while the rest of the Yamaha MG line does not. The Yamaha BMS10A Microphone Stand Adaptor screws right into the underside of the MG10’s making it very versatile and even more portable.

Just watched your MG10FU setup video. Qs answered. I'll use controller XLR into mics 3/4. Prefer XLR. I'll use line in as secondary option. Thanks again!
