As a non dota1 player, it's kinda insane that you remember (I presume) every key differently for each hero.
not to mention sometimes I noticed Artour also changing his item keys depends on the hero he's playing.

i play invoker and a friend plays invoker with legacy keys and he said he cant use normal because you have to remember which invoked spell is on D or F, which i never thought about that before so i guess there's one advantage of legacy users

I think what makes legacy fun for me now is that they are unique to each hero. Like I feel a sense of connection to that hero when I play them and my fingers automatically look for those keys. Maybe I'm just weird. Rubick for example - ZXNQ are his legacy keys. I think this was intended because most of other heroes spells are not on these keys... but then when you steal alacrity(z), tornado(x) from invoker, it will just not work at all haha!

The only downside about legacy for me is when a new spell get released, for example Drow’s new shard, Lina aghs, etc. They didn’t come with the hotkey so you have to click it manually. But now they have it so it’s fine

Yeah same, I play all heroes with legacy keys, because the muscle memory and reflexes are already set in stone since wc3/dota1 era. So personally, it's the most comfortable play style.

Muscle memory is all that matters. I'd always use WASD for camera movement in RTS games so when i started Dota i assigned all the keys around the WASD camera and i could not play by using mouse for majority of camera controls

playing morphling with legacy key is a nightmare...

The only disadvantage of legacy key users are new heroes (relearning new key binds) and skills not bound on the left side of the keyboard i.e. sd's shard, sb shard, and lina fly (if they still exist)

My transition from legacy to qwer got help from the WC3 mod game called Fight of Characters that use qwer. Used to play this mod and kinda feel qwer more easy then dota 2 comeout and you can customize the keys.

I previously used QWER hotkeys when I just started in Dota 2 but when I absolutely could not get the hang of playing Invoker with Invoke slot hotkeys, D and F, I switched back to legacy hotkeys and never looked back since. Kinda strange since I gave up playing mid anyway including Invoker as well but it is what it is 🤷‍♂️

Ive been playing dota since forever, and when you play a game for multiple years, you'd get to memorize the keys . Heck there was even a time in dota2 the public lan matches or garena/rgc pubs were set to single draft(sometimes random mode with 1 chance to repick)so you'd be forced to play a hero you're not familiar with..

HoN came out was like a blessing in disguise, learned the QWER hotkeys for several years then transitioned to dota 2, carried over the QWER hotkeys

its because your muscle nemory that makes you comfortable in using legacy because its what youre used to do, if you change back to qwe it could disrupt your focus and game play

when i started playing dota2 i didn't know u can use legacy keys, now im also a qwer guy which is kinda cool cuz its way simpler
