Taliban fighters have dispersed dozens of female protesters in Kabul, almost a year after the militant group seized power.

About 40 women marched through the Afghan capital demanding rights, before the Taliban broke it up by firing into the air.

The fighters seized their mobile phones, stopping one of the first women's protests in months.

Oppression of 1/2 your national population seem to be detrimental to any kind of progression IMO.

These women are so brave knowing the risks they face. The men who threaten them are cowards.

If Afghanistan wants a brighter future they will need basic human rights and a better educated population, obviously including women.

They have every right to be angry. They will likely pay a heavy price for their actions, but they won't get anything without fighting for it.

What is deeply disturbing to me is that SONS grow up to disparage their own Mothers Can't imagine knowing my newborn baby will grow up to be basically my enemy

Takes some serious ovaries to protest in a place like that, never had to take such a serious socio-political risk in my life and I'm damn thankful.

I'm all for gender equality and women fighting for their own rights, but at the same time I'm disappointed in the Men, how can you not support your women and protest together with them? Like you're all in this together.

No world religion ever brought world peace and when one considers the difficulties Afghan women face, the oppressive Taliban strikes at the heart of tolerance for equality. If Afghanistan practiced a tolerant Islam women and school girls could potentially return to society in a manner of reconciliation. Why men think they are superior to women in Middle East is historically inevitable but showing the courage in the street setting to want change is most importantly significant in that women have a place beside their opposite not below.
