Kings Day Amsterdam in the Netherlands was a HUGE PARTY! We got to experience it first hand with some friends and join the crowd in this huge celebration.

King's Day looks like a blast! Those Oompa Loompas were great. And the little girl's lemonade stand 💸💸💸I like that the locals are able to celebrate in their own fashion. You could tell that they were all really enjoying themselves.
Thanks for explaining all the orange. Normally I associate purple or red with royalty; neither are as fun as orange!!

The previous queen (Beatrix of the Netherlands) kept the celebration on her mothers birthday (Juliana of the Netherlands, born on 30 April 1909) as her own birthday was on 31 January 1938 and it's usually kind of cold on that day so keeping it on 30 april makes sense. As our current kings birthday is also at the end of april he could move the celebration back to his own birthday. Our future queen was born on 7 December 2003, again usually not an ideal date for warm and sunny weather...

I loved seeing this through foreign eyes! But if you thought this was busy and orange, you haven't seen the music festivals yet. 538 and Slam (2 of the largest radio stations) host music festivals where the entire crowd is dressed (partially) in orange. Mostly EDM, but some hip hop and stuff too. It's crazy to see a few thousand people dressed in orange hopping around to music. (Just look up 'Slam Koningsdag 2019' if you want to see what I mean.)
