Advice On Managing Your Stellar Jades (F2P) - Honkai: Star Rail

Here's some advice on how to manage your Stellar Jades. I break down how many pulls are expected to get a limited 5*. This is tailored towards F2P players. With 2.1 and 2.2 coming up, hopefully this will be helpful to you in future banners.

If anybody is interested, here is the probability to get atleast one 5* in a certain number of pulls:

10 pulls: 5.84%
20 pulls: 11.34%
30 pulls: 16.52%
40 pulls: 21.34%
50 pulls: 25.99%
60 pulls: 30.31%
70 pulls: 34.38%
74 pulls: 35.94%

These calculations are based on the 0.6% chance for a singular pull.
The formular I used: 1 - 0.994 ^(number of pulls) , which is based on the binomial distribution.
This only works until 74 pulls, because after that, the soft-pity kicks in and raises the probability.

I saw once a video that explained that the % chance of getting 5 stars in banners the highest isin the 30 first pulls then after that ur in the lowest % until you hit soft pity at 60+ pity at 70+ hard pity 80+, there for he suggested that for 30 first pulls you do them as single pulls then 10 pulls from 30-60 and from there on single pulls, and like that you waste less stellar/tickets. I tested this personally and it worked for me.

The calculations are wrong. The average amount is not 140. When you combine that there exists a soft pity starting from 70-75 pulls and that there is a 50/50, it is around 100 pulls on average to pull something. 140(~150) is basically almost the WORST case when you need to hit 2 soft pities. But that is not going to happen "on average" therefore it is wrong.

I managed to save up 200 rolls for Jingliu release and now I can't even save like 5 pulls idk why. It's the same thing in genshin I managed to save up like 80 rolls for Hu tao's first rerun and now same as star rail I struglle saving up a single ten pull so yeah idk

Question: If I'm on my 70th pull, and I decide to do a full 10 summons, will the pity bonus kick in during the middle of those 10 summons, or will I have to do single summons until I get to 74?

I felt that at the very end, I’ve been also planning my pulls around losing 50/50s, and yeah I have an e2 yanqing as f2p. I do also have every standard character, unfortunately I never pulled bronya, had to use my selector

Expected value can sometimes be misleading. You would think it's more probable to land tail on a fair coin after landing head 30 consecutive times but it is actually still 50/50. So even though the expected value of 21 pulls is higher than 20 pulls, after getting no 5star in 20 pulls, the probability of getting a 5star is still 0.6%. This remains the case until pity kicks in.

I'm at 5 pity on limted character banner (After I got Ruan Mei before Dr. Ratio release), and 10 pity on limited lightcone banner (recently got DHIL' sig lightcone before Sparkle release). Right now I have 20, 000 stellar jades, still saving.

Let's say I'm still saving for Topaz & Numby rerun, with enough jades, I could get her or not. Still concern about my chances of getting a 5 star character, what do you think?
