‘It’s Not Good For Us, Nor For Bangladesh’

The American administration led by outgoing President Joe Biden planned the regime change operation in Dhaka. And although there might be some change once Donald Trump returns to the White House, ‘the deed has been done.’
Ambassador Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty doesn’t mince his words. In this episode of The Gist, the veteran diplomat who’s served two stints in Dhaka categorically blamed the outgoing Biden administration for the situation in Bangladesh, which “clearly for India is not a happy situation.”
“In Most of our foreign policy projections we talk about a stable, peaceful, democratic periphery. That’s our vision, our goal, but sometimes I feel like calling it a pipe dream,” he said.
Having decided that Prime Minister Hasina needs to be ousted, Biden’s team planned this operation, and they have succeeded, he said. “The Americans sometimes do this regime change operation without giving much thought to the fallout, and this is what has happened in events all over the world,” he said, adding: “It’s not good for us, it’s not good for regional stability, and it’s bad for Bangladesh.”
How does having an Islamist party in power in Bangladesh help the U.S.?
The one thing that people tend to forget or ignore is that the Americans have been very close to the Islamist parties, particularly the Jaamat-e-Islami, “which was a collaborator with the Pakistan Army in 1971, and committed horrible atrocities” in what was then East Pakistan, the ambassador explained. “They were all together in it, the Americans, the Jaamatis, and China too was siding with Pakistan.”
According to ambassador Chakravarty, the Americans “have a long linkage with the Jaamat-e-Islami, and they have always justified it by saying that it’s better to deal with the overground Jaamat than rather than drive it underground.”
And this linkage was exploited during this regime change operation in Bangladesh, he said.
“For example, the Shibir, or the youth wing of the Jaamat, or their storm troopers, they were on the field, and they took over the students’ agitation, which was genuine to begin with.”
The reason why the Bangladesh Nationalist Party -- which had boycotted elections after the 2008 parliamentary polls, allowing the Awami League regime led by Sheikh Hasina to continue uninterrupted in power since then ---could be pushing for early elections because the Awami League is in disarray. But the students who now hold the reins of power are probably delaying for reforms and perhaps in the hope of forging a party of their own, which could legally contest the elections, he felt.
“The violence and attacks on minorities that are still going on have only further vitiated the atmosphere, “ he felt.
To get deeper insights into the situation in Bangladesh, the forces at play and what it could mean for India, and whether or not India was right to have helped liberate Bangladesh in the first place, watch the full interview.

If we cannot save the hindus of bangladesh than forget saving Indians themselves.

In 1947 at the time of partition the Bengali Hindus were the majority. Today Bengali Hindus are the minority. Too much liberalism and secularism has only hurt Hindus.

Hindus of Bangladesh are experiencing discrimination since 1948. When hindus properties or business institutions are under attack law enforcing agencies do not quickly take action. Millions of hindu minority have migrated to India leaving their properties. After defeat of awamileague Hindu families, their properties come under attack, women are raped. This is because most hindus support awamileague in the election. After Sheikh Hasina's escape from Bangladesh, again muslims started attacking, threatening, eliminating hindu officials from key position of administrations, dismissed many police officials, teachers, from their jobs. Iscon's chief, for the first time submitted 8 point demands for freeing hindus from those oppressions, just arranged several meeting in Dhaka and other cities and protested this injustice. Is it rebilion against country? We want to live in Bangladesh in peace.

Mr Ambassador keeps talking about "interdependence". This is ridiculous.
Bangladesh depends on India. We don't have to depend on them for anything. It is a one way affair.

Bullshit! This man was an ally of Hasina, aiding her in maintaining power through India's support. Hasina was ousted by a popular uprising, not foreign intervention, and her rule was sustained by foreign influence rather than the people's will.

During World War -II, Both UK & USA provided Military Equipment & Warplanes to Russia to fight Germany ...
As per India's xAmbassador Mr Pinak's doctrine, President Putin should have expressed Gratitude to UK, USA & West by going home and not fighting War in Ukraine or should not had cut off the Fuel gas pipeline to Europe ...
Hasina fleeing to India for refuge is an example of India's Failed Foreign Policy, being watched Internationally ...

All Bangladesh Hindus should be granted Indian citizenship and settled in India. If this is not possible then Indian military should be sent to Bangladesh to protect Bangladeshi Hindus.

How this gentleman is commenting "regime change operation by USA" without any substantial background. It was imminent that Hasina would be ousted as she ruled the country without election. India assisted her to remain in power without election. She was very unpopular in the country.

Before giving a lecture on the Bangladesh issue, you must analyze why all of India's neighbors are leaving your country. India is a friend of Hasina but has never tried to be a friend to the people of Bangladesh.

India claims to be a democratic country and respects democratic processes. However, over the past 15 years, we have witnessed how India has undermined our democracy under the Hasina government. Our younger generation has been deprived of the right to vote, and the last three elections under Hasina's fascist regime have destroyed all our democratic institutions. It's not only the Bangladeshi people but also the Hindu nation of Nepal that opposes the Indian government's supremacy policies.

One of the incorrect statistics often mentioned is that the percentage of Hindus in Bangladesh has decreased after 1947 due to torture. This is not true. Many Hindus willingly left Bangladesh for various reasons. There are two types of Hindus in Bangladesh: those who are Bangladeshi by heart and body, and those who are Indian by heart and body.

A nation that demolishes mosques to build temples should not lecture us on humanity.

I have never seen such atrocities in my entire life. The inhuman torture on Hindus in Bangladesh deeply pains me. I am ashamed as a Muslim.

From Bangladeshi POV India and hasina benefited from each other.
India supported Hasina for getting undue gains like almost free transit.
Unfair secretive Adain power deal.
Many more. It will be a saga.

India should reflect on their past actions in favor of Hasina rather than blaming USA!!! It seems very funny to us!!!
