I am a fan of the fake emerald death scene. The amount of hopelessness that is caught in that scene was perfect. Knuckles thought that the only way out of this madness is to find the emeralds. And then Sonic.exe crushed it, damaging Kunckles’s morale

Tails is trapped trying to break an unbreakable wall as a monstrous version of his friend crawls closer.
This death really makes you feel the despair of the situation, especially since the area was specifically set as a trap for Tails

Knuckles watches the very thing he is meant to protect, the most powerful object known, be effortlessly crushed.
This one shows the hopelessness of Knuckles, how the objects that usually give the characters the Ada vantage they need to win are powerless against OMT.

Ray is the only one to be running for his life as EYX slowly gets closer. He had a chance to escape if he was faster, but he slowly was caught. After getting caught, he isn’t immediately killed and instead is left for a sec before his eyes are destroyed.
This gives the player guilt, as it really makes it seem that there was something you could do. There was an obvious chance survival, unlike others on this list, because Ray wasn’t necessarily trapped. Ray also speaks to you, begging for help as his killer slowly gets closer. It makes you feel responsible, and in a way, you are. You reopened the game despite knowing that one of the characters would die. Ray would not have died if you hadn’t reopened the game. It is your fault, but you don’t realize this until Ray begs for your help, when you realize there was something you could’ve done to prevent this.

Overall, Ray is my favorite as his death is literally the consequences of your actions. You don’t even control him or lead him. You just threw him into his death the second you opened the game. Unlike Knuckles and Tails, the EXE doesn’t kill your character, but rather a random uncontrolled one that just so happened to be in the code. You caused the death of an innocent, and the game makes sure you know that.

Tails drowning death in Sonic One Last Round is the most brutal because drowning is one of the slowest ways and torturous ways to die because you very conscious during it.

The scariest part for me in rays death is when eyx is chasing him the time and rings change to “somebody help me” and right before eyx catches him ray looks straight at the player and the words say “player help me”

By far my favorite part of the sonic.eyx scare is the fact that Draenog stares at you while he holds ray. He gives you the look like “Are you having as much fun as I am?”
Really lets it sink in that Draenog isn’t killing ray, you are. The exact point that knuckles makes in the same game.

The you can’t run Ray has to be my favorite, I’ve seen that after the fact of that death the scene changes a lot, I actually remember seeing EYX eating Ray’s corpse before it was changed to EYX just staring at Ray’s body
