Having rhetorically asked the question in my last post - is there a more gorgeous woman in pop than Olivia Newton John? Well, Scottish Sheena Easton is a pretty good comparison point - just a stunning beauty as well. Here, I have unearthed an extended remix of her 1983 hit 'Telefone (Long Distance Love Affair). Missing the charts altogether in her neck of the woods, 'Telefone' made the Top 10 in America, and Canada. Here in Australia it also missed the Top 40 (#54), but I loved it then, and I love it now, nearly 40 years on. I prefer Sassy Sheena than Weepy Sheena. 'Strut' is one of my all time favourite pop songs. Having won a Grammy for Best New Artist two years earlier and also nominated for Pop Female Vocal Performance for 'For Your Eyes Only', Sheena received back to back nods in the same category for 'Telefone' and then for the aforementioned 'Strut' in 1984. And Sheena Easton is still gorgeous all these decades later.
