Yes, we sometimes stumble when we least expect it. It is encouraging to be reminded that repentance is such a powerful witness.

This is such a beautiful perspective of 1st Samuel 27.
I and a few people have been running a character bible study on Saul and David and it's been such a blessing using your resources, Pastor Guzik. Thank you so much for being such a blessing to us all.

I think you're reading David's actions in a poor light. I think the text is showing us that he's so humble that he will accept help from anybody. He won't scoff at the idea of Phillistines protecting him. I could be wrong of course but there doesn't seem to be anything negative about what he did. Except for the losing faith in God part. He was very afraid that his luck would run out so he doubted God. But that doesn't mean trusting humans is bad.

Edit: Oh, I completely missed the part where he murdered his own people. 😮😯 I read the entirety of 1 Samuel once but I didn't notice that he actually did that. I definitely don't remember that part of the story.

25:16 I heard a Muslim argue once that these bad points were made up or invented as slander to the Jewish Patriarchs/Kings.

Points to Jesus in that man, (DAVID) is willing to kill for to justify or pardon man's own acts of sin,
