Boris Johnson gives keynote speech at the CBI annual conference – as it happened

Makes me think of a student who has to do a presentation in front of the class, but forgot he had to prepare for it and do it, so he gets up in front of the class and he bluffs his way through it

I get the feeling he hasn't actually even seen the speech until he got to the stage. He is an embarrassment. He doesn't even know what he is saying. Sometimes I am embarrassed to be british but at least I never voted for him or his party.

I'm hearing words but he's not saying anything worthwhile...it's just soundbites and catchy blurbs....no substance.

This speech may go down in history as one of the worst speeches ever by a Prime Minister. Worse even than his speech to world leaders at COP26 when he told the world the UK was not corrupt!
He obviously has a problem at the moment and may need help. but I've not seen any serious ldeas put forward as to what the problem is.
It could be:-
1. Too tired to prepare it. (New wife and baby - may need another holiday.)
2. Too lazy to prepare it, thought he'd just use the same words and phrases as he's made up before.
3. Speech writer died the night before.
4. Forgot to take his medicine/drugs.
5. Took too much medicine/drugs.
6. Couldn't be bothered. (It was only the CBI.)
7. Too much liquid refreshment the night before.

I do know though that if anybody working for me did an important presentation like that, he would not be doing it again, ever.

I was just thinking perhaps local families could have a swear box, because lets be honest the charities would be deliriously happy everytime people react to Boris Johnson. I mean if it was only 10p an F word, I imagine the weekly total would be high from many households.
