Unscrew the back panel and read what it says on the inside of the bottom plate. If it says "Bud - Willoughby, Ohio" on the back plate or on the inside of the enclosure (between the in and out jacks) it's a '74/'75. If the backplate is stamped "MXR Innovations" on the inside it's a later (up to '77/'78) Script logo version. If it says nothing on the backplate, or something that starts with "RR" it's a current reissue.

The Bud box and the Vintage ‘74 have the same great tone but the Vintage ‘74 had more detail and clarity. I’m impressed

The actual vintage one sounds great at higher rates, and blends a bit better than than the other two, but I think you have to go with the whirlwind for the true bypass and on off light, and the power adapter

all these reissues always just barely miss. the original sounds better. it makes me sad they just dont make them the way they used to

Orange box is the best. I own one and it better than any other I have tried, including Retro Sonic.
