Got one back in Sept and installed a Micro-Air Soft start on my 2.5T AC. Starting amps are between 14.6 and 16 since install. Running is 5.5 to 7a. My sticker claims 12.8 running and up to 67.8a. It’s now quieter at start up and easy on the Gen. EU7000is runs my house easily.

I got mine 2 weeks ago, it's the best investment I could have ever made. You can sleep all night with it powering a ac window unit, or a mini split and the fridge.

Congratulations. I have a very early EU7000 for my home in NJ. Its saved us many times. Its an excellent generator. We have the same hookup for the house with an Interlock. Buy some spare oil and a few extra spark plugs. Be sure to clean the Spark Arrestor Screen. I was surprised how dirty mine was after 50 hours. Also mine won't show the watts on the generator display until the draw is over 500.

another thing that surprises me about the Honda gen is the differences in the controls. Mine has all the same buttons and outlets etc that yours has, but mine does not have the rubber cover flaps nor does it have the CO alarm (i prefer not having it actually, less to go wrong). I also noticed that mine does not have 4X110v, it only has 2 separate 110V. But it is a very slick unit, expensive, but worth every penny. I just bought mine on a Thursday, and we had a 6 hour power outage on the Saturday. Wife was able to hook it up and maneuver it (I was at work) with no problems. She decided to make a pot of spaghetti, so I know how 1 element on the stove can make the unit surge (see my previous comment below). it didn't affect the several UPSes I have in the house though!

I have the same gen and softstart and my numbers are the same as yours. My gen started the 2.5T AC without the softstart, but it did hiccup every time the AC started. after the softstart, not even a flicker in the lights. Runs my whole house with no issues, including the stove, but if the elements kick on/off the lights will flicker. but one element is about 3K watts. I use the 30A version of the Gener-link to connect to the house.

I have two of those, one ran almost constantly for 2 months after hurricane Maria in 2017. Where I live, power outages are very common, that's why I have all these generators.Now that I have two, I alternate them, so that way they don't get too much use, they get used during the night.. I have a third generator, a Firman 9000 watt for daytime use. I did couple of modifications: magnetic drain plug, magnetic dipstick, 10W30 Mobil One, battery tender. and when spark plug replacing time came up, I used an Iridium plug. Almost 1100 hours later, that generator runs like new. My newer one barely have 60 hours and is getting the same treatment. Both mine run the WHOLE house, AC (24, 000 BTU inverter mini split, 2 fridges, all the lights (LED), water heater, etc. What I do is "play" with the watts. If I turn the water heater on, I turn the AC off and so on. I do not have an electric range or an electric dryer. That's a pricey investment, if you are going to run it in that area, you may want to build a small shed to protect it from the elements. You did a great buy, you wont regret.

I bought a brand new EU6500is from a Honda dealer. At 32 hours, the inverter went out. The repair bill was$1, 700. The generator was 3 years old, so Honda refused to give me any break on the repair bill, even though from a mechanical standpoint, it was brand new,

Look and see if you can run a tri-fuel kit on the7000. If you can, get one immediately. It’s highly unlikely for natural gas to be cut during a storm. A large propane tank can be installed in the ground if needed. Storing gas is good but can go bad. Buy a shed and use it for shelter during hard weather. Make sure moisture doesn’t collect in the fuel tank. Buy an extra spark plug, fuel filter, and air filter.

Wondering if it will run the furnace, its going to be 7 this week, and I want some heat, I could deal with everything else being off. I also have a smaller generator I could use for lights and stuff.

i have one used thats in really good condition. it has 50hrs shy of 13, 000 used. is that a lot for this generator?

Just curious, how do you intend to protect the generator from the elements during a storm, resulting rain, and a power outage?
I don’t think you’ll want it out in the open.

If you don't plan on running anything 240v, then it's actually more efficient to use the 120v output, purchase a short power cord that splits that output into two feeds that then connects to your regular 4-pin extension cord. That way you are not trying to balance between two separate legs...both legs get the same 120v feed. Of course nothing 240v would work, but it is an option. You also don't need to turn off all breakers....just the 240 ones and the refrigerator breakers.

Good video. You could have showed the fridge/lights actually running, but that's a minor point. You're the first video I've seen for this generator that describes where the oil drain is located and to remove the pan.

While Honda is known for great products, the total harmonic distortion (TAD) for its EU7000is is =/< 10%. Anything greater than 5% is a threat to low voltage appliance and furnace control boards, computers, etc. As a rule, inverter generators produce cleaner power. Consider your applications and check the specs before making your purchase.

I was going to get one but man the cost is wild. I got a predator 9000 starting 7250 running waits for less than 700 bux..I couldn't pass it up..even tho it isn't a inverter type.
