You can get more softness, flex and equal snapback with steel nibs as you can with wet noodle gold nib pens, if not more. All the nibs need is some modification! Great video

A true flex nib gives a very clean line because of that snap back.

Great comparison thanks. For an amateur like myself I find flex requires to much concentration so I prefer the shape of the nib to provide line variation. Personal favourites are Jowo 1.1 for steel and Sailor music for gold both very smooth.

Good description. What were your first three inks? Thanks for the video.

Fude nibs are really cool for line variation though the nibs are fugly. Some awesome steel nibs like Secretary Da Flex outperform most gold nibs.

Another interesting nib is the music nib. Great video!

Nice - the only flex nib I have might be a faux flex nib. It's an Opus 88 EF Flex. It's steel with notches to reduce rigidity from the curved profile of the main surface of the nib. It takes a lot of force, so it's best used as just a regular EF nib.

Such an informative video! I'm looking to buy my first vintage flex pen, and I'm wondering what the differences might be between the Pelikan 140 and the Pelikan 400.

What inks are those? Looks a bit loke Alt-Goldgrün in the Stipula and Monteverde Blue Suede in the Leonardo?

How long have you been using fountain pens? Your channel and videos are new, but you speak like you have some experience on you. I completely agree that "flex" is a buzzword. Nibs that shouldn't be flexed are being flexed. I personally like the italics, the lazy persons flex LOL. I do enjoy your videos.

What is the difference between this specific vintage pen and that modern flex ?
