He sounds so different in this song, maybe it’s because his voice is changing. They have said that eventually Steven will have the same voice as zach callisons natural voice.

The song is not about steven having pink's memories back, it's about him remembering his old self back in the earlier seasons and comparing it to the relationship the diamonds had with pink.

I just love how Steven realized he was LIKE her mom, but he wasn't her. It's like a full evolution thing.
Also this gives just more importance to season 1 which is the one people usually don't like because it's just too silly, but now we see how related it is to the whole story.

This song is so beautiful, but so off putting. Like god he's being forced to pretend to be his mom, and is trying to stop the reign of basically immortal tyrants. He's only 14-15 and that's my age and I can't imagine doing that. Props to Steven and props to Rebecca for creating such an amazing and capturing show.

Edit: Also I love how he realizes he used to do those things and how the crystal gems and him aren't so different from the diamonds and his mom. And how he was just like his mom in the beginning and look how much he's grown. I can't say it enough, I LOVE THIS SHOW. Thanks if you read this much!

Pretty wholesome song when you understand the full concept of it, Steven planning to use his experience from the entirety of the show to now help the Diamond family.

That first ‘why’ is so mesmerizing??? This climbed as my favorite song, no doubt about it!

Its kinda crazy when you really think of the early CG vs. The diamonds. Pearl and BD, who mourned for years and years, unable to let go of their feelings toward Pink for the longest time/at all
WD and Garnet, the leaders, turned stoic and stuck within themselves after the light of their group went out.
Even YD and Amethyst, hiding their true feelings behind masks, lashing out when pushed about them.
The difference is Pink and Steven.
Pink who lied and kept secrets, unable to properly deal with more serious situations (like Bismuth).
But Steven has that human part, that Greg part, and as we've seen over the course of the series, that's made so much of a difference.

God, i love this song. Steven remembering his younger self and how the gems wouldn't let him do missions and stuff. Steven realizing its exactly what the diamonds did to pink. Steven saying he's gonna fix the family.
I love it.

I found this really beautiful because it represents how Steven finally comes to terms with his identity crisis-by realizing the person he thought had to live up to all his life dealt with the same struggles and insecurities he did. It really pulled the whole idea the show was trying to portray that perfect people don't exist full circle
