The most powerful skill I've found like this, is the ability to focus on one person, as if they're the only one in the room!
I know some very successful people who are insanely busy. And when you meet them, their full attention is on you, and they make it clear they appreciate you taking the time to talk with them!

Most people at networking events, etc. Will be shaking hands, passing out cards, and in the same moment, looking for who they're going to meet next. Not these people. Who's next doesn't appear to even be a thought.

Being a good listener makes people like you more. Good in the sense, a genuine listener. I started on this a couple years ago when I watched one of the Alux videos. In the beginnings, it was hard to listen to people rant or geek out on a topic. But I eventually learnt to admire their enthusiasm instead of getting bored. And one more thing I found out when surveying my closest friends was that people like you more when you allow them to be themselves. I don't mean this in a tyrannical way but people put on different masks in different environments. They will be happy if they can be themselves without wearing any masks. I was clueless about why when a friend of mine told me that that was one of the best things they love about me. And later, I found out I was open to knowing different perspectives without being judgemental. So, these are the 2 things I'd like to add to this topic. And as always, love you, Aluxa.

(1) great eye contact but not in a creepy/serial killer way.
(2) when you try to include others in a conversation or catch them up on what the conversation was about
(3) giving little tips on small problems they have or giving recommendations that may help improve their lives
(4) being proactive and organising things once in a while
(5) being communicative and letting people know you are running late, or to confirm that a gathering is still on
(6) being present - simple things like not scrolling social media or texting whilst someone is talking, turning your phone face down when in the presence with others
