My brother in law, who is a self taught builder, said years ago that if an amateur tries to do some plumbing the worst that can happen is he gets soaked but if he tries electrical work he could kill himself. Keep safe!

There are three basic rules for working with eletricity.
1) Shut the power down.
2) Ensure that power is really shutdown.
3) Ensure that power cannot be switched on accidently while you are working.

In most of the cases when it comes to working with electricity though, get a professional.

Some years ago I accidentally touched a live electrical wire that was hiding on a kitchen shelf I was wiping down with a damp rag (of course). I happened to be half standing on an aluminium ladder and half on a laminate kitchen bench at the time. I’ll never forget the ripple of electricity that shot through my body! Thankfully I’m still here to tell the tale. 😊

Super glad you didn't end up dead after that escapade. Also -- mold remediation is something best left to experts, too. Despite that you had a mask on (assuming you got the right filters for mold), the mold WILL get out into the room without the proper ventilation whilst removing it (especially if there is a lot of it) and can cause further problems. You've been exposed to toxic mold now, so keep an eye on your health and if that starts to go downhill, consult a doctor who actually knows what to do to help people detox from mold.
