We did it. We recorded a podcast a day late and then eventually uploaded it to YouTube. But that isn't the most impressive part. The Intel 12th Gen equipped Talon system from Falcon Northwest was. Also, Alder Lake is very fast. Faster than AMD?!! Everyone is saying so. It's just so hot right now. Literally. It pulls 241 watts.

We also talked about some other stuff. Full list of subjects can be found in the time stamps below.

Alder lake is better than what I was expecting, but the power consumptions is still a bit insane for someone who maxes their cpu for long periods of time.

What I'm really excited for is zen 3 with 3d v-cache. Here's hopping the uplifts will be as high as promissed, and that it's a no issue drop in replacement to b550/x570 compatible cpu's.

You guys should do some more testing on the Intel power situation. There were some YouTubers that said that when doing a lot of tasks for a long period the Intel chip averaged lower power usage versus the ryzen 5 5950.

The i5 12600k looks like she's the belle of the ball, sweet spot wise. power watts, price wise etc. My real issue with intel is their cpu sockets seem to last one generation? how long will this LGA1700 socket last? 9 months ?

For anyone wondering if it's possible, I was able to activate a fresh copy of Windows 11 using my old Windows 7 key.

Nuclear i9's and good i5's with +20% ipc on an expensive platform.
Its rocket lake all over again (he writes on a 11600k).
Its a poor value to buy an i5 and Z690 for 30% more money than an equal AMD system to get 1% more performance on average (as per hardware unboxed), Meanwhile its a nightmare power and temperature wise to buy an i7 or i9.
Raptor lake might be good but thats the end of the lga1800 socket.
Meteorlake should actually be good with their chiplets finished and DDR5 and PCIE5 actually available.

AMD had a good run and made buko bucks, but you can't stay on top forever. With Gelsinger back at Intel, things are going to get interesting.
